Do I need an account to join an event?
No. Guests join with the event link or QR code and never create an account or a password.
No. Accounts exist for hosts — the person who created the event and pays for it. Guests join with nothing but the link or QR code they were given.
When you join, your browser is given a small session for that one event. It is what proves to us that you were invited, so that you can upload and comment. It is not an account: there is no password, no profile, and nothing to log into later.
The name you type when you upload a photo or sign the guestbook is just a label shown beside your contribution. You can leave it out, and nothing checks it against anything. When you upload photos you can also untick “Show my name with my photos”: everyone else then sees “A guest”, and only the event’s hosts see the name.
Because there is no account, a download of the photos you took is tied to this browser, not to a login — see What if I change phones?.
