What happens when a host deletes a photo?

It disappears from every surface immediately and the stored image files are deleted with it — there is no undo and no bin.

Deleting is final. The photo stops appearing in the gallery, the slideshow, the keepsakes and the archive at once, and the stored image files — the full-size version and every thumbnail — are deleted from storage in the same action.

There is no bin and no undo, for the host or for us. That is deliberate: leaving the image files behind after someone asked for a photo of a real person to be taken down would defeat the point of taking it down.

A record that a photo existed is kept for a short period so the gallery does not try to show a gap, and so a deletion cannot be quietly reversed. The picture itself is gone.

Hiding is not deleting

A host can also hide a photo, which takes it out of the public gallery but keeps it for them. Hidden photos stop being served straight away, but they still exist and still count towards the event’s photo allowance.
