What does the “Make photo public” switch do?
Left on, your photos go to the shared gallery; turned off, they go to the host and their moderators, and the host may choose to show them later.
On the upload screen, under More options, there is a switch for making your photos public. It is on by default.
- On — your photos join the event gallery, where everyone who can open the gallery will see them.
- Off — your photos go to the host and the moderators they invited, not to the gallery. The host may still choose to show them in the gallery, the slideshow or the highlight reel, so turning the switch off is a request, not a guarantee of privacy.
The switch applies to the whole batch you are saving, not to individual photos, so send the private ones separately.
The event decides who can open the gallery
This switch decides whether your photo goes into the gallery. The host’s privacy setting decides who can open that gallery at all — on a private event, only the host, their moderators and guests who have joined. The switch can never make a photo more visible than the event allows.
