How do I run the live slideshow on a big screen?
Launch it from the Live tab on the machine driving the screen; new photos appear as they are published, with no refreshing.
From the Live tab, choose Launch 4K Slideshow (the Live Event card on the Overview has the same button). Open it on the laptop or stick driving the screen, put the browser full-screen, and leave it.
The live slideshow comes with Plus and Premium. On a free event the button shows what it unlocks, and upgrading the event switches the slideshow on straight away.
It updates itself. The slideshow holds an open connection to the event, so a photo appears within moments of being published — nobody has to refresh anything, and there is no polling delay to explain to a room.
It shows only photos that are public and have passed their check. A hidden or held photo cannot reach the screen, which is the whole reason the slideshow is safe to leave unattended at a wedding.
The newest photo always comes first, so a guest sees their own picture appear. Once five photos have at least one like, every sixth slide is one of the event’s five most-liked photos, labelled Most loved with its like count. If you hide a photo while it is spotlit, it leaves the screen at once.
Guests’ videos play on the screen, muted, for their own length — at least six seconds and at most fifteen; the full clip stays in the gallery. On a computer set to reduce motion, a video shows as a still with a Video mark instead.
Two things that spoil it
A screen that sleeps, and Require approval left on with nobody working the queue — the slideshow will sit on “Waiting for photos” while a hundred of them wait for you.
Running the screen at a festival or a venue night? A live photo wall for big nights covers the bigger room.
