My child is at an event that uses Mosaikin — what should I know?

How a guest gets in, what the 13+ floor means, what the safety check does and does not do, how to report, and how to have a photo of your child taken down or their data erased.

Mosaikin is a shared photo album for one event. Guests add photos and guestbook messages to it; the host — the person who created the event — keeps the album afterwards. This page is for a parent or carer whose child has been given the event code, or who appears in an event’s photos. It is written from how the product behaves; the Privacy Notice, the Guest Terms and the Safety page are the authority where this page and they differ.

How a guest gets in. A guest scans the event’s QR code or opens the link the host shared. A protected event also asks for a short access code, which the host has. That gives the phone’s browser a session for that one event, which lapses after 24 hours. There is no account, no password and no email address: a guest is not signed up to anything and is not contacted by us. The name a guest types beside a photo is a label and can be left out.

The age floor. The Guest Terms say a guest must be 13 or over to add photos or messages, and that an under-18 should have a parent or carer’s agreement. Be clear about what that is: a term, not a check. Mosaikin asks nobody their age and holds no date of birth, so it cannot stop a younger child who has been given the link. Whether your child takes part is your call, and the host’s.

What is there, and what is not. The album, a guestbook, a live slideshow on the venue’s screen, and sometimes a photo scavenger hunt with a leaderboard, if the host set one up. Guests can like a photo. There is no messaging of any kind, no profiles, no friend or follower lists, no search for people, and no feed that recommends content. Guests receive no notifications. Nothing on Mosaikin can reach your child after the event.

What the safety check does. Every photo and every guestbook message is held until it has been through a safety check, and nothing is shown to anyone before then. Content the check is unsure about is held for the host or a moderator to look at; content it blocks is never shown to anybody. Location data (the hidden GPS and camera metadata in a phone photo) is stripped before a photo is stored. The host can hide or delete any photo or message at any time, and can choose to approve everything by hand before it appears.

What the safety check does not do. It judges what a photo shows, not whether a child wanted to be in it or whether a message is kind. It does not recognise faces, and nothing on Mosaikin does. The host and the moderators they invited can see every contribution, including photos a guest marked private. A photo that passes the check can still be one you want taken down, and that is what the Report control is for.

How to report. Every photo and guestbook message carries a Report link, and it works for anyone — you do not need an account, an invitation, or to have ever used Mosaikin. Pick the reason, add anything the host should know, and leave an email address only if you want to hear the outcome. You can also email safety@mosaikin.app. If your child is reporting something themselves, the page written for them is I’m under 18 and something upset me — what do I do?

What happens next. The host sees the report at once. Reports about child safety or illegal content are reviewed first, with a first review within 48 hours; everything else within 7 days. The person who posted the content is never told who reported it. If you left an email address, you are told the outcome and the reasons, and if you think a decision was wrong you can ask for a second review — see the Guest Terms and How are reports and flagged content decided?

To have a photo of your child taken down

Use Report on the photo and choose It shows me or someone else without permission; or ask the host, who can remove it immediately; or email safety@mosaikin.app with the event, the date and a description of the photo. You do not need an account. Deleting a photo removes the stored image files as well — there is no bin.

To have your child’s data erased

A parent or carer can use the erasure route on a child’s behalf. Email hello@mosaikin.app with enough detail to identify the contribution — the event, the date, the name used. The Privacy Notice sets out that route, how we verify a request and how quickly we answer, and the rest of your rights; please use it for anything formal rather than this page.

If you are worried about a child

If a child is in immediate danger, call 999. If you are worried about a child’s safety or welfare, the NSPCC helpline for adults is 0808 800 5000. For a child who wants to talk to someone themselves, Childline is 0800 1111, free, any time; Samaritans are 116 123, any age; Beat is 0808 801 0677 for eating disorders in England, with its own lines for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. If someone has approached your child sexually online, anywhere, report it to the police’s child protection team at CEOP. If a sexual image of an under-18 is online, your child can use Report Remove without giving their name, or you can report the image to the Internet Watch Foundation. If the image is on Mosaikin, use Report and choose It puts a child at risk: we block it, preserve the evidence and report it to the National Crime Agency as the law requires.
